Why Massage Therapy in Millarville?
When something hurts, you massage it. It's instinctual. If you smash your leg into the corner of the coffee table you automatically cup your hands over it and massage it until the pain subsides. Well, first you tense up, clench your jaw, maybe hop on the other leg for a few steps to avoid the pain. But then, you massage that leg. Because it eases the pain. And it helps you feel better.
Stress feels a lot like the corner of that coffee table: sharp and painful. It can leave you feeling tense, sore, sometimes hopping around on one leg, jaw clenched, feeling angry and frustrated.
Massage Therapy can soften those sharp, painful corners, and ease the toll of stress on your mind and body.
Why This Isn’t Your Average Massage:
Nervous System Based
- Stress and tension don’t just live in your muscles—they live in your nervous system. My approach focuses on calming and resetting your nervous system to create deeper, lasting results. By addressing how your body responds to stress, we can promote healing from the inside out, helping you feel more balanced and at ease.
Sensitivity is My Superpower
- I know that everyone’s body is different, and the “right” pressure for one person might be too much for another. My superpower is tuning into your body’s unique needs and using just the right amount of pressure to help you relax and release tension—without leaving you feeling sore.
Mind-Body Integrative Approach
- Your mind and body are interconnected. I integrate both in our sessions, using techniques that support mind-body connection along with physical relief. This holistic approach ensures that we’re not just treating symptoms but fostering overall balance and stability.
What Clients Are Saying
"I was suffering from pains in the Achilles area that physio treatments alone weren’t fully resolving. Deanna suggested that when running, I concentrate on my footfall / strike as my foot hit the ground, thinking about how my foot landed and pushed back off, being ‘in the moment’ as I ran and being aware of my body, my legs and my feet every time they hit the ground rather than the ‘mindless’ running trap I had fallen into over the years. I couldn’t wait to see Deanna at my next visit as that mindfulness, being in tune with my body, did the trick. I told her it was akin to witchcraft, but I know, in all honesty, that its being mindful of my body, what I’m putting it through at any given moment and treating it with both the mental and physical love that it deserves, regardless of what activity I’m doing, that finally resolved the pain."

Benefits of Massage Therapy:
Massage Therapy isn’t just about feeling good in the moment—it’s about creating lasting changes in how your body feels and functions. Here’s how it can help:
- Deep Relaxation: Life’s stresses can leave your body feeling tight and tense. Massage therapy helps you unwind by calming your nervous system, relieving muscle tension, and promoting a deeper sense of relaxation.
- Pain Management: By supporting your body’s natural healing processes and balancing your nervous system, massage therapy helps reduce pain, whether from injury, overuse, or chronic tension. You’ll notice relief that lasts long after the session.
- Support for Mental Health: Your body and mind are closely linked, and massage therapy addresses both. Regular sessions can help improve mood, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and provide a safe space to release emotional tension. The nervous system support and relaxation you gain can be an essential tool in managing your mental health.
- Restore Mobility: Massage therapy restores fluid movement to stiff muscles and joints, helping you feel more flexible and capable. You’ll notice greater ease in everyday movements—whether that’s picking up groceries or enjoying your favorite activities.
- Improved Sleep Quality: Struggling to get a good night’s rest? Massage therapy can help by promoting deeper relaxation, calming your nervous system, and reducing muscle tension. Regular sessions can improve sleep quality by helping your body shift into rest-and-recovery mode more easily, allowing you to wake up feeling more refreshed and restored.
- Enhanced Body Awareness: In each session, you’ll learn to tune into your body, recognizing areas that need attention. This increased awareness helps you release tension and fosters a deeper connection between your mind and body.
- Long-Term Health Support: Consistent massage therapy can do more than just relieve immediate discomfort. It can help you feel better, move with more comfort and ease, and build resilience against stress and injury over time.

I use pure, unrefined, 100% Organic Jojoba Oil from HobaCare - The Original Jojoba Company.
Why?
For starters, it's awesome. But also, it's:
- Non-allergenic and appropriate for all skin types.
- Similar to the natural oils found on your skin, so it won't clog pores.
- Light, but deeply moisturizing, so you don't leave your massage feeling greasy.
- And it doesn't stain my cotton sheets, so they don't have that nasty rancid oil smell to them!
I have worked with several of my clients throughout their pregnancies, but pre-natal care is not a focus for my practice.
No. I took the training years ago but I always felt like the stones interrupted the flow of my work and got in the way of my hands, so it didn't stick.
